The light pieces are made of boxwood, known for its carving detail. The set includes extra queens for pawn promotion. All pieces are double-weighted, carved with unique collar rings, and have thick green felts for smooth movement. The knights are masterfully crafted by Indian artisans for precision and quality.

The sweeping mane, a distinctive head shape and a bold design of the knight represent the "Lion of Punjab". Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire,The Sikh Empire, founded by Ranjit Singh in Punjab, lasted from 1799 to 1849. It united various Sikh Misls under his leadership. Maharaja Ranjit Singh also completely renovated the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
