The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional. The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for the white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique rings and elegant curves.

Design Inspiration: The knight of this chess set is inspired by the sword of the legendary King Arthur. The sweeping mane and distinctive head shape gives the knight aggressive and ready-to-attack look. 

Craftsmanship: Did you notice? All chess pieces have handmade dotted lines at the bottom of the shank, for an elegant look. The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, craftsmanship around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding that allows the set to truly stand out.
