This version addresses customer feedback with a more accurate knight design, ensuring a closer reproduction of the original.The 1950 Dubrovnik Chess Set became famous as Bobby Fischer’s favorite chess set. Fischer famously called it "the best chess set I have ever played on." Originally seen at the 9th Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the set is a rare and highly sought-after collector's item.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

Felts: Thick green felt precisely envelops the base of each chess men.

Weights: The set is double weighted and so they are pleasure to hold and will last for years if maintained properly in a dry and clean place.

Note: Original Dubrovnik chess pieces are non-weighted. Commercially available 1970 chess set (used by Bobby Fischer) design is slightly changed from the actual 1950 Dubrovnik but the difference is not hugely noticeable. The actual 1950 Dubrovnik Olympiad chess set was never sold in any store.
