This superlative historical chess set is made up of Rosewood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.0 inches and its base is a robust 1.6 inches. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in Rosewood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than Rosewood wood for the expensive chess pieces. The texture of the Rosewood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and triple weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. Chess pieces have unique collar rings and thick green felt on their bases for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our master artisans have to offer.
