This is a beautiful set. I have a modest chess set collection of mostly modern tournament sets, all relatively inexpensive. I decided to treat myself and for the price this repro in Ebony is an absolute bargain.

Definitely substantial. The king and queen have delightfully wide bases. The rooks are massive. Only criticism, the weighting could be heavier and more consistent. Even that doesn’t detract from their look.
